Open position for VITA Latino 2025 season

VITA Latino Pasante

  • The VITA Latino Pasante is a seasonal (temporary) position that supports tax preparation, client services, and team organization. After receiving the proper certification from the IRS, the VITA Latino volunteer dedicates a specific number of hours during the tax season 2025 to supporting the Buenas Finanzas team in different roles, depending on the site's needs. You will develop and practice the following skills: Spanish language, IRS-certified tax preparation, client interviewing, and engaging with vulnerable populations in our city.

    The VITA Latino Volunteer will receive a stipend at the end of the season, as agreed upon before tax season starts.

  • • Upon completing the required IRS certifications, the VITA Latino volunteer will prepare taxes for the clients who had previously requested an appointment.

    • At the beginning of the month, the VITA Latino pasante will schedule their work hours based on the amount of VITA Latino sites available, the number of appointments requested, and the number of volunteers per site. The schedule can change up to 48 hours before the VITA Latino site.

    • By the end of the tax season, you must complete at least 100 hours of Basic tax preparation or 90 hours of Advanced tax preparation (can include basic or advanced depending on the site needs). These hours may involve conducting quality reviews as necessary.

  • • Basic to intermediate Spanish proficiency.

    • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills.

    • College Student or Recent Graduate.

    • Accounting and finance students are encouraged to apply.

  • • Get hands-on experience and valuable training for your resume while helping your community.

    • Help financially vulnerable individuals to obtain access to quality services for free.

    • Develop valuable skills such as Spanish language, tax preparation, client interviewing, etc.

  • • Basic or Advanced tax preparer certification from the IRS.

    • Proof of current enrollment in college or recent graduation.

    • For basic certification, complete 100 hours or 70 tax preparations. For advanced certification, complete 90 hours or 65 tax preparations.
